Rainforest Cafe

Today we took Conor to lunch at the famous Rainforest Cafe. He had no idea what was in store! If you have never been, it is a rainforest themed restaurant and gift shop. The entire restaurant is designed to look at and feel like a rainforest, complete with elephants, toucans, gorillas, and of course rain.

Everything was going great. We arrived and immediately started pointing out all of the animals, trees, and flowers in the restaurant. There are was also huge fish tanks filled with gorgeous tropical fish...Conor was particularly fond of the fish. When our waiter approached he informed us that every 20 minutes there is a "thunderstorm" where the lights flicker on and off and all of the mechanical animals light up and squeel really loud (we were not aware of this "thunderstorm" feature when we planned this little outing). Shortly after we received our appetizer the "thunderstorm" began. Conor jumped and insisted on sitting next to me in the booth and leaned on me throughout the entire meal. He didn't even want to eat his lunch; there was just too much going on and he did not want to miss a thing. A nice man came by and made him a balloon animal which brought a huge smile to his face :) It is an incredibly stimulating environment for a child, Warren and I even had fun.

All in all it was a great experience for Conor. He left knowing the word fish very well and he was extremely excited about his blue balloon dog. The lunch left all of us totally exhausted...Conor was out cold on the drive home. He is so gosh darn cute!

Mallrat

We took Conor to the mall today and he had a blast! First he played at the Lego store (which by the way, where was that when I was a kid?). He really enjoyed looking at their displays. They have an Eiffel Tower that is made up of almost 6000 legos!

After the Lego store he went for a ride on the carousel. He went through all sorts of different emotions. At first he laughed, then he cried, then he laughed, then he screamed (once he realized the ride was over).

Conor is 2 Years Old!

Today our baby Conor is 2 years old! We can hardly believe its been 2 years since this little guy arrived and changed our lives forever. It seems like just yesterday we were designing his nursery and shopping for every baby item that we could possibly think of. How quickly time passes. That nursery no longer looks like a nursery...it is now a little boys room full of trucks, books, and red circles drawn on the carpet with markers (which we've yet to clean). Where did the bottles, pacifiers, and onesies go? Suddenly when we pack for a day out shopping all I need is a sippy cup and some snacks. You never imagine the words that will come out of your mouth once you are dealing with a toddler: "Get the cheddar bunnies out of Mr. Potato Head!" "Stop shoving blueberries down the drain!" "Don't lock the pugs in the closet!" I swore up and down that I would never allow my refrigerator to look the way that it does in the picture below...but now, I wouldn't take down those finger paintings for anything in the world. Sometimes we have to stop and just laugh at ourselves. Yes, life sure has changed since that day 2 years ago...but we couldn't ask for more. This little boy has brought so much life, love, and laughter into our world and we are so grateful for each day that we share with him.

Conor celebrated his 2nd birthday his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends out at Canyon Lake this past weekend...it was a blast! We're currently working a little slide show to share with all of you so please check back tomorrow for more!
