Winter Blast 2009

This morning was pretty icy so we all stayed in until the ice could melt away. Conor had fun playing with the pugs. He decided to take his quilt and go snuggle up with the pugs in their bed. It was pretty cute to see the three of them all cozy under the quilt. He insisted that Morgan stay covered...he's such a gentleman!

Uncle Nick turns 30!

This past weekend was Nick's 30th birthday so we decided to head down to Houston to help him celebrate. Little did he know, Charissa was planning a surprise birthday bash. So, while Warren and Nick were out playing golf we prepared for the party. This was Conor's first experience with balloons. At first he was not very interested, but once we had a room full of them he became obsessed. It was really cute how he would chase them around. He found one very small balloon that became his favorite. He carried it around everywhere with him and even managed to anchor it next to him while he ate dinner. Happy Birthday Nick!

Conor's 19 Month Stats

Today Conor went for his 18 Month check-up. Dr. Michaels says he is looking great, and that he's a very active little boy. Unfortunately he had to get 3 shots (one of which was the flu shot). Conor was a trooper; he only cried for a second. He does not like lying on that paper on the exam table. Here are his stats:

Height 33" (75%)
Weight 24.6 (25%)
Head 19" (55%)

Here are a couple of pictures of Conor pretending to talk on Mommy's cell phone...such a cutie! Tonight we had stir fried vegetables w/soba noodles for dinner. When Conor saw Mommy eating with chop sticks he decided that he wanted to eat with chop sticks. So, we gave him a set and he watched very closely as Mommy ate and tried to figure out just how she was doing that. Finally, Conor came to the conclusion that if he stabbed the veggies with the chop sticks he could get them to his mouth...so that's what he did. He was incredibly proud of himself for stepping up to this challenge...I must say that we were pretty impressed.

What is Conor doing???

BFF's

Ava came over the other night to play with Conor and they had a blast! It is so cute to watch Conor and her interact. It's really evident that Conor comprehends she is younger and smaller than him because he is very gentle with her. If he wants to give something to Mommy or Daddy he will kind of "throw" it to us but with Ava he gently puts it out in front of her and waits for her to grab it from him.

He also got up in our red chair and patted with his hand next to him like he wanted her to sit next to him. I sat her down next to him and he got really excited. She was a little nervous at first so I picked her back up and Conor immediately starting patting next to him because he wanted to sit next to her.

Teaching Conor how to make pancakes

Update: Conor actually ate his pancake! This is a first for us. We've made pancakes for him at least 4 times now and he has yet to eat more than one bite. I have a little theory as to why he ate some this time. I believe by showing him how much work goes into them and that they don't magically appear on a plate, Conor felt obligated to at least humor me a little and eat some.

Update 2: I forgot to mention that these pancaked were of the healthy variety. Because Conor never eats our pancakes, I decided to make some with barley and oat flour, honey, no sugar. Of course, these are the ones Conor will eat. Not your typical 1 and a half year old....

Conor Lately...

Conor just turned 19 months old and doing his best to keep us on our toes. He is incredibly independent these days...this can be helpful and dangerous at times. There is nothing that is off limits to him anymore; we spend most of our time following him around. Conor is becoming a little more picky about what he chooses to eat, but he's a pro at using a fork and spoon. Suddenly he attempts to repeat every word that we say and mimic every facial expression that we make. It really is true that children are a great reflection of their parents. Somehow Mommy taught Conor how to roll his eyes...its pretty hilarious. Conor has a mind of his own! He knows what he wants and if he is busy with a project it is best to just let him be. To the dismay of the pugs he is infatuated with their food. They must love him because they are so patient when he picks it up and throws it into the air like confetti, or when he hand feeds them 1 piece at a time, or when he washes his hands in their water. If you think that sounds gross, you should see him brush his teeth with the water in their bowls. Conor is becoming a very mischievous, yet absolutely irresistible little boy. We are having such a blast with him right now!

Funny Story: Due the excitement of the holiday season we totally forgot to take Conor for his 18 month doctor's visit! I know! We can't believe we did that! Thank you Grandma Pons for reminding us. So stay tuned for his 19 month stats...we have a appointment for next Wednesday...

Christmas Quilt

Grandma Sano surprised Conor with this fabulous quilt that she made for him. Conor loves to incorporate it into forts that he builds.  He makes sure not to let the pugs lay on it though.  Isn't it amazing? Thank you for making Conor such a special gift!

Vacation Week Comes to an End...

Conor and Mommy took last week off together.  It was spent sleeping in, taking long walks
(well...mommy walked while Conor snoozed in the stroller), and playing with all of Conor's fun new toys.  We were lucky that the weather was absolutely beautiful so we got to play out in the field when we got tired of being inside.  We had some much needed bonding time...I'm sad to see it come to an end.  Conor is such a precious little boy!

At the Playground, Ya Know

Yesterday we took Conor to the local playgrounds.  He had a blast!  He is definitely a little daredevil.

Haircut Time

Conor got his second haircut today.  I personally think I did a great job (certainly better than the first go round).  I'm planning on cutting Momma's hair tomorrow and I'll post some pictures...jk!
